Decorah, Iowa-based pork producer Vande Rose Farms said it is expanding with the recent acquisition of La Quercia Cured Meats in Norwalk.
La Quercia, founded by Herb and Kathy Eckhouse, creates premium quality cured meats including prosciutto, salami, pancetta, guanciale and other special cuts.
La Quercia products are sold across the U.S. and Canada, including in grocery stores such as Hy-Vee, Whole Foods, Kroger and independent specialty retailers.
Family-owned Vande Rose Farms works with a network of small family farms to raise premium Heritage Breed Pork for gourmet restaurants and retailers throughout the country. Its pork production philosophy includes crate-free, antibiotic-free, hormone- free and vegetarian-fed practices.
“Kathy and I are pleased to be entrusting the future of La Quercia to Vande Rose Farms,” Herb Eckhouse said. “We have spent nearly two decades living out our beliefs that the best fresh meat makes the best cured meats, and that the best fresh meat comes from welfare enhanced pigs. Vande Rose is the leader in producing this special resource and will be able to directly supply La Quercia with the best ingredients.”
